The Southeast corner is fire — in Vastu, it's where the kitchen belongs without exception. The Agarwals' rental had the kitchen in the Northwest (air and movement), which their mothers had flagged independently before the couple had even heard of Vastu. Deepak had purchased a corner plot in Whitefield and was ready to break ground. The plot's shape tapered toward the northeast — in classical Vastu, this is an extension of the most auspicious zone, but only if the construction honors it rather than fills it. We recommended leaving the NE corner as an open garden, shifting the building mass southwest, and orienting the main entrance exactly 15 degrees east of north. The resulting floor plan felt inevitable.

Construction completed on schedule. Family reports the house "breathes differently" than any previous home.

The waiting area sat in the southwest — the zone of inertia — and the consultation room faced west, which in Vastu places the practitioner in a position of reception rather than authority. After repositioning the consultation desk to face east and converting the southwest corner to a reception desk (grounding energy for arrivals), new patient bookings increased 40% in four months without any additional marketing.

Trained as an architect at CEPT Ahmedabad, then in classical Vastu Vidya under Pandit Krishnamurti Shastri in Tirupati. The two educations don't contradict each other — they describe the same building from different distances.
